Mother’s Day will certainly be different this year, but it can still be a time of fun and celebration. Due to Buncombe County “stay home” orders, visitation at Heather Glen is currently not allowed, but we’ve come up with some thoughtful ways you can show mom you love her!
Have the grandkids perform on Zoom. Zoom is a video conferencing app that you can use for free for up to 40 minutes. Plan a skit, sing some songs, or just have your kids tell grandma their favorite memory of a time they spent with her.
Watch a movie “together.” Call mom and have her queue up one of her favorite movies; do the same at your house. Then watch together while on speakerphone. You can laugh and cry together at all the good parts!
Send mom a gift card from a local store. Support our local small businesses and let mom choose what she likes! Many businesses are offering curbside pickup or will deliver, or mom can wait and shop once stay home orders are lifted.
Use snail mail. Send mom some love the “old fashioned way” with a handwritten letter. Tell her all the things you appreciate about her or funny stories you remember from growing up. If you’re feeling artistic, include some sketches, or let the grandkids draw pictures. She’ll have something she can treasure for years to come.
Send flowers. Brighten mom’s living space with her favorite flowers! Order from a local florist if possible; they’ll appreciate your business.
We’re wishing all the mothers at Heather Glen and everywhere a very happy Mother’s Day!
