Margaret Ann Bishop was born in Corning, Arkansas, in June 1921. Her father spent his career in banking, eventually earning the title of President of Corning Bank. Her mother, a homemaker, spent her time looking after their only child. Margaret Ann loved being an only child and was very spoiled!
After high school, Margaret Ann went to business school for two years. She met and married her husband, Liston Bishop II, soon after. Liston was a fighter pilot in the Air Force, then became a pharmacist after he retired from the military. He and Margaret Ann had one child, Liston Bishop III (nicknamed Bo), whom Margaret Ann stayed home to care for.
Margaret Ann loved to play Bridge, and she was even in a Bridge Club at one point. Then, when she decided she needed something to keep her busy, she decided to start volunteering at Mission Hospital’s reception desk. She then transferred to the reception desk at St. Joe’s, where she stayed as a volunteer for many, many years. St. Joe’s valued Margaret Ann as a team member so much, they awareded her her very own parking space! Friends from St. Joe’s still keep in touch, regularly sending her beautiful bouquets of flowers.
Margaret Ann moved to Heather Glen in October 2017 and shares a room with her adorable cocker spaniel named Sam, whom she’s had for 13 years. She reads the newspaper every morning and spends the majority of her time in the common areas, where she engages in some activities and conversations with fellow residents. Friends visit her often, as does Bo, who resides in Tennessee.
With her honesty, quick wit, and contagious laugh, Margaret Ann makes a great addition to our Heather Glen family. Residents and staff alike enjoy talking with her and having her around!
