New ownership brings new opportunities and greater benefits to the Ardenwoods community. A one year process came to a close in September with the successful acquisition of Ardenwoods Independent Living Community by Retirement Living Associates, Inc. (RLA). The transition has been seamless for staff and residents of Ardenwoods; a testament to the amount of vetting that an enterprise such as this requires. The residents were kept abreast of the acquisition process with weekly breakfast get-togethers where the sale was always a hot topic. Since then, the changeover was incredibly smooth and it has been business as usual. From every angle, RLA and Ardenwoods is a perfect fit. Located just 15 minutes from Asheville, NC, Ardenwoods is a premier resort-style retirement community nestled on 48-lush wooded acres with sweeping mountain views.
A well-respected family, a well-respected family business
Family-owned, RLA was formed in 1990 in response to the demand of founder David Ammons’ expertise and wisdom in the successful management of senior living communities.
In 1990, David Ammons was an experienced and successful senior living community manager determined to share his management skills and compassionate approach to senior care. With the support of his family, Ammons founded RLA and the rest is history.
With 32 years of dedication to service, the Ammons family has developed a stellar reputation among mid-size communities for unmatched, attentive care.
The Ammons family has a particularly special and enduring relationship with Ardenwoods since its inception with a friendship between the builder of Ardenwoods and David Ammons.
“We like the proximity to RLA because it’s close enough for them to drive over and say hello to residents,” says Jake Rightmyer, Executive Director at Ardenwoods.
Jake reminds us that they kept residents abreast of the acquisition process with weekly breakfast get-togethers where the sale was always a hot topic. Since then, the changeover was incredibly smooth and it has been business as usual.
“Residents have mentioned that the only difference they’ve noticed after the sale is a different name printed on the invoice,” says Jake.
“Ardenwoods has always been a remarkable place for our residents, and the standards they have come to expect will continue to be met and exceeded under the direction of RLA. From an operational standpoint, it’s exciting to have our management company so close to the community.”
